It was dead in the winter and I was invited to a ball hosted by one of the greek sororities... Of course a beautiful gown is essential. I ALWAYS have a hard time finding gowns that fit properly and are long enough. So I made it that way...

Length baby...
I bought a beautiful black dress and then purchased a few yards of tulle at Joann's fabrics, folded and fanned the tulle, and sewed it all around the hem of a gown I had purchased. It was SO beautiful and I felt fabulous.
Note: I initially added the tulle and it was TOO long, so I simply cut it shorter; the edging that created was a nuisance... IT caught onto a lot of tiny items on the ground, like grass and dirt. So, its best to measure the length needed precisely, fold the tulle to render the appropriate length and then sew. This way, the cut edge of the tulle is not dragging on the ground, picking up all of the bacteria and germs for you to bring back home with you. The texture and thickness of the tulle matters here too, if I used a thinner, softer tulle, I think it would have been fine.
The fur collar in the photo was also added, purchased on Amazon.
Dress: T's Closet
P.S. I have a few more gowns that I plan on altering, I will share before and afters of those:)
